When my printing consultant laid out the first test strip for this piece, I had no words.
In front of me lay a sliver from the vertical centre of the image and I couldn’t believe how the textures came to life in a large print form. The two peaks looked so strong, the reflection so tactile.
I understood in that moment why these photos had to be printed, even just for myself as a photographer. There’s an emotion to the images that a screen simply can’t deliver.
When I look at the full print, I can remember the fresh chill in the Patagonian air. I can feel the gentleness of the calm lake, and a throbbing pain in my knee from falling ten minutes prior.
I loved my brief time in the National Park of El Chalten. Mount Fitz Roy creates an unbelievably serene and charged atmosphere in its vicinity.
